"There's nights I have to work until 8 a.m. and then have my morning staff meeting with the Mudbugs at 8:45. So I have to go straight from the casino to the staff meeting and start my day like it never ended. Those are days you're not seeing correctly. Sometimes, you're sleep deprived and I'm asking myself, 'What are you doing here?' Am I seriously going to work insane hours, have no life outside these two jobs, just to try to make it, TRY to make it as a hockey broadcaster?"

Chet Yoder of the Shreveport Mudbugs pays the price to chase a dream

For those who say they’re willing to pay the price to chase a goal, whether it’s academics, fitness or career, let me introduce you to Chet Yoder. The play-by-play voice of the Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League left the conveniences of Bay Area living to become a sports announcer. Along the way, Yoder lived in small towns and took a second job working overnights dealing poker in pursuit of his passion. With roadblocks, Yoder confesses to have pondered a different path but stayed true to the mission of climbing the ladder as a hockey announcer. Perhaps his story will raise your level of commitment or cause you to question if you’re willing to do what it takes.
